Fact or Fiction: 1971 peso coin now reportedly valued at P1 Million
The mystery and tale of adventure will now unlock for how many years whether the 1971 peso coin is true or just a legend.
The Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho on GMA made a research how accurate the story was. Since then, the 1971 coin believed that it contained pure gold and was worth a million today.
Massive of coin collectors were searching for that rare coin. It is said that Dr. Jose Rizal image was engraved in front while Noli Me tangere was written at the back.
A man with an alias name Roel from Davao City claimed that he owned the rare 1971 coin with the same label as it indicated.
Roel narrated on KMJS how he started looking for that certain coin and when he finally owned one, he was also eager to sell it for the interested buyer with the highest price.
But later on, he constantly wondering if it really has a value or just a plain myth. That's why he took the opportunity with the help of KMJS to find out the truth.
They consulted Boyet Manuel of the Philippine Numismatic and Antiquarian Society and finally end up the tale of the rare coin.
"Malamang na ito ay produkto ng medal maker na gumagawa ng mga medalya noong araw. Kung una kung mapapansin mo yung itsura ng 1971 na piso, hindi siya handmade,” Manuel said.
While Currency Issue and Integrity Office of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ deputy director Maja Gratia Malic also gave her statement about the 1971 coin and confirmed that in their list of coins, there was never a coined released same that way.
She added that all coins they created did not contains gold but just a pure alloy only.
