Ayon sa pahayag ni Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, saad niya, "With this, we are confident that those individuals who are responsible for this felonious act will be held accountable."

Noong Hunyo 2014, isiniwalat ng PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) ang pagkawala ng mahigit 1,000 na armas ng PNP na hinihinalang ibinenta sa NPA sa halagang P52 milyon. 

Ayon sa ulat, nangyari ang bentahan noong Agosto 2011 hanggang Abril 2013. 

Ayon naman sa GMA report, ito ang ilan sa mga taong nasasangkot sa iskandalong ito: retired PNP Directors Gil Meneses and Napoleon Estilles; dating Chief Superintendents Tomas Rentoy III at Regino Catiis; Raul Petrasanta, ex-head of the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office; at dating Senior Superintendents Eduardo Acierto at Allan Parreño and Lozada.

Sabi ng PNP, isang Isidro Lozada raw ang nangasiwa ng pagbebenta ng mga armas mula PNP papuntang NPA. Si Lozada ay may security agency sa Caraga Region.
